| Even though every gourd is shaped unique, there
are so many gourds in the ‘farms’ that match the criteria for standardization
(physically, height and width) that I can search out and secure those which
match our needs and still control the tone of each; hence the labels soprano,
alto, tenor and bass. STRINGS: Tone definition comes from the string gauge. (i.e.. a soprano harp has .008 -.013 gauge strings where an alto has .010 to .018) Obvious restrictions apply due to string length, but the point is, the range or octave that any harp produces is based on string gauge.(no great epiphany as shown by matching a lead guitar against a bass guitar) We are talking about variables combined with an initially inconsistent field! And its exciting! Its exciting for ME to match the strings to your needs and its exciting for you because your instrument is like no other in the world...truly one of a kind. The special orders are what I LIVE FOR! I string with plain steel....it sounds good, it has all the qualities I need. But if you want to perform, if you have a favorite string manufacturer, if you want more durability.....TELL me with specifics and I can deliver. The only extra cost is that of buying the non-typical strings, there are no additional labor costs....stringing is stringing! (tell me where to buy, or give me the website) With expensive, double-strung harps this is a MUST. I want to give you everything you can get for your hard earned money. SOUND QUALITY The harps are created as stand alone type entities. Stage musicians need a bit more. I can provide an internal electric pickup for $85.00. Its a standard ‘Schatten-Dualie’ pickup attached internally (strategically) and fed to a standard amp plug outlet, usually in the base and back of the harp (non-interference with the stand). Price is based on equipment and installation....if you have a pickup you would rather use, send me info...keep in mind the $25 installation fee.
